The Issue

I’m Lola and I’m 12 years old. I think all girls across the country should be able to play football and other sports at school.  It shouldn’t be down to whether or not you have a good PE teacher or whether they like PE or particular sport.

How can girls be inspired if they don’t get to play and enjoy a wide variety of sports at school?

Do you know so many of my friends have no sports clubs at school or they have boys football teams only? Why can’t we have mixed teams? Why can’t we inspire girls and boys to play together? It’s not fair!  Girl’s football should be offered as soon as girls start school. Get them moving and inspire them to play.  It is our national sport after all.

The important people at the Government keep telling us how important exercise is. They tell us that they have spent lots of money on sport in schools but why are we still not getting the same opportunities in all schools.

It is not girls’ football and boys football it is football and we should all be able to play. Sport is important for our physical and mental health. It all starts at school so why aren’t we doing more.

My petition is growing, I will keep sending the important people letters to ask questions and make them see that things need to change. Girls deserve better opportunities! I will keep pushing for this to happen.

What we need:

⚽️ We need better training for trainee teachers - they need to be able to confidently teach a wide variety of sports and inspire all children.

⚽️ Football needs to become part of the curriculum - girls need fairer and better access to the game.

⚽️ All schools need to commit to continual training for teachers and the correct resources to enable a variety of sports to be played in school.

Girls can do it too

Help me make a change and let’s improve the future of women’s sport.
