Let Freddie roam free

The Issue

Freddie is a well-known and much-loved cat who many shoppers have come to recognise outside the Tesco Skegness Superstore.
For quite some time, Freddie has been spotted near the store entrance, often relaxing in his box and greeting customers as they arrive. Many people in the community have grown fond of seeing him there, and some families say their children even look forward to spotting Freddie when they visit the store.
Recently, Freddie’s box and blanket were removed following a complaint reportedly passed to East Lindsey District Council. Because of this, Freddie may no longer be able to spend time near the entrance as he has done before.
Freddie’s owner, Julie, has explained that Freddie enjoys roaming outdoors and is not likely to be kept inside. Like many cats, he chooses where he likes to visit — and over time he has become something of a familiar face for shoppers in Skegness.
This petition is not about causing conflict or criticism. Instead, it is about showing that many members of the community appreciate Freddie’s presence and would love to see a compassionate solution that allows him to safely continue stopping by the store.
Freddie has brought smiles to countless shoppers, brightened people’s days, and become part of the local character of Skegness.
We respectfully ask Tesco and the local council to consider allowing Freddie to continue his visits in a way that works for everyone.
A small cat has made a big impact on the community — and many people would love to keep seeing Freddie when they come to shop.
If you believe Freddie should still be welcome to stop by the store, please sign and share this petition.
