Who is impacted?

This petition represents California’s Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) — frontline workers who care for our most vulnerable. Many of us juggle long shifts, family responsibilities, and tight budgets. Yet, we’re required to complete 24 of our 48 continuing education hours in person — a rule that creates obstacles for those already stretched thin.

What is at stake?

This outdated regulation makes it harder for CNAs to renew their licenses. Thousands fall behind or drop out of the workforce every year — not from lack of dedication, but from a lack of access. With a worsening healthcare staffing crisis, we cannot afford to lose experienced, trained caregivers due to unnecessary in-person requirements.

Why is now the time to act?

Nurses in California are already trusted to complete 100% of their CEUs online. CNAs deserve the same flexibility. We’ve proven that online learning works — during the pandemic and beyond.
