Let Boise Decide: Petition for More Flag Options or Keep our Current Flag

The Issue

These new proposed flags fail to capture the essence of our city — the City of Trees. They all look far too similar to each other, lacking the distinctiveness and character that Boise embodies.

I’ve always loved the Boise flag’s history and the symbolism it carries. Its unique design doesn’t just represent our city; it tells the story of our roots, our growth, and our unity. Over time, this flag has become an irreplaceable part of who we are.

Now, there’s a push to change that emblem — to uproot the flag that has stood as a representation of our collective identity.

I am all for change. But, please, take a stand and sign this petition let the people have a chance to vote on all the potential flag designs, not just the four currently on the table. Or keep the current flag.

These four are extremely similar, we aren't given a range of diversity, there is no character. Let’s protect what truly represents us.

Below are the proposed new flag choices that we don't want. Even the Syringa flower has the INCORRECT amount of petals:

Responded
First, I want to thank each and every Boisean who took the time to share their creativity and vision with our community through their flag design. Your work reflected your love of this city and the strength of our community connections. I am deeply grateful - for your contribution to this effort. I want to express my deep gratitude for the time, energy, and thoughtfulness of our City of Boise Flag Design Committee. Your efforts have been an important part of this conversation, and we appreciate the care you've brought to the process. This was a special process where I heard from so many Boiseans what they love most about our city, and I could see that love and care for Boise in the submissions we received, the thoughtful work of our committee, and the passionate feedback from our residents. I’ve weighed that feedback, and one thing is clear: Boiseans are passionate about our city, and our flag! I’ve decided that it isn’t the right time to move forward with a new flag. I’ve always said that being responsive to residents – listening and learning as I make decisions – is a key part of how I serve Boise. Though we are sticking with our current flag, I’m excited to share all of the submissions we received from Boise residents. Their work helped spark important dialogue about our civic identity, shared values, and the symbols that represent our city. I am deeply grateful for everyone who shared their art, their time and their perspectives and hope you enjoy seeing the passion of your friends and neighbors – fellow Boiseans - through the flags that were submitted.
