Legalize Window Tinting in Georgia

Legalize Window Tinting in Georgia
The Issue
I am an ordinary citizen, using my personal car for work. Each day, I traverse through more than five counties to get to and from my job. Despite having a flawless driving record and adhering strictly to traffic laws, I find myself repeatedly pulled over by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) for what they deem as 'illegal tints'. Oddly enough, no other police department seems bothered by these same tints.
Window tinting is not merely a cosmetic choice; it serves practical purposes too. It can reduce glare from the sun and headlights of other vehicles, making driving safer. It also provides privacy and helps keep the car interior cooler during hot summer months.
Currently in Georgia, only 32% of light is allowed through any window except the windshield on private vehicles (Georgia Code Section 40-8-73.1). This law seems arbitrary when compared with states like California where up to 70% of light can be blocked on front side windows (California Vehicle Code Section 26708).
We believe that Georgians should have the right to decide how dark their vehicle windows are tinted without fear of being penalized unfairly by law enforcement agencies such as GSP. We are calling upon our elected officials in Georgia to reconsider this outdated law and allow citizens more freedom in their choices regarding personal vehicle window tinting.
Please sign this petition if you believe that Georgians should have greater autonomy over their personal vehicles' appearance while maintaining safety standards!
