Legalize the Sale of Alcohol and Liquor in Broaddus, TX

Legalize the Sale of Alcohol and Liquor in Broaddus, TX
The Issue
As a resident of Broaddus, TX, I have seen our community struggle with limited revenue sources. One potential solution that could greatly benefit our town is to legalize the sale of alcohol and liquor. Not only would this increase revenue through sales tax, but it would also reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to purchase these items.
Currently, Texas collects $1.4 billion annually from taxes on alcoholic beverages (source: Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission). If we were able to tap into even a small fraction of this revenue stream, it could significantly improve our town's financial situation.
Moreover, by allowing local sales we can decrease the risk associated with long-distance travel that many residents currently undertake to purchase alcohol. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data from 2018, 29% of all motor vehicle fatalities involved an alcohol-impaired driver.
By legalizing the sale of alcohol and liquor in Broaddus we can increase our town's revenue while also potentially reducing risks associated with driving long distances for purchases. Please sign this petition if you support legalizing alcohol sales in Broaddus for the betterment of our community.
