Legalize personal marijuana use for adults in Florida to enhance quality of life.

The Issue

Adult Personal Use of Marijuana Allows adults 21 and older to possess, purchase, or use marijuana for non-medical consumption. Establishes possession limits. Prohibits marketing and packaging attractive to children. Prohibits smoking and vaping in public. Maintains prohibition on driving under influence. Applies to Florida law; does not change, or immunize violations of, federal law.  Allows Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers to acquire, cultivate, process, transport, and sell marijuana to adults. Provides for creation of licenses for non-medical marijuana businesses.

Who is impacted?

Thousands of adults in Florida are negatively impacted every day by outdated marijuana laws. Responsible adults who choose to use marijuana for personal or wellness reasons risk legal consequences, job loss, or social stigma. Veterans, patients with anxiety or chronic pain, and everyday Floridians are forced to seek relief through unregulated sources or suffer in silence due to fear of prosecution. These laws disproportionately affect marginalized communities, further widening social and economic inequalities.

What is at stake?

If these laws remain unchanged, Florida will continue to criminalize nonviolent individuals, waste public resources on enforcement, and miss out on the economic benefits seen in other states with legalized adult use. Legalization would bring regulation, safety, and taxation—funds that can support education, healthcare, and public safety. If nothing is done, the cycle of punishment, stigma, and missed opportunity will continue.

Why is now the time to act?

Public support for adult-use marijuana in Florida is higher than ever, and several states have already shown the success of legalization in improving lives and boosting local economies. The time to act is now—before more lives are disrupted, more money is wasted, and more opportunities are lost. Let’s modernize our laws, protect our citizens, and give Floridians the freedom to choose responsibly.
