Thank you for reaching out and taking the time to share your thoughts. I recently responded to the petition creator on Change.org and wanted to provide you with some context regarding our current city policy.

As it stands, our city code requires that all owned animal, including cats, be kept under control. In most cases, this means they must remain on the owner’s property or be appropriately restrained when off-property.

I've also brought this matter to the attention of our Animal Services Director, Ian Williams, who can offer further insight into the existing policies and enforcement practices.

While any changes to the current code would ultimately need to be considered and approved by the City Council, please know that your input is valued and contributes meaningfully to the ongoing conversation.
