LEGALIZE ATV/UTV'S ON THE ROADS IN DELL PRAIRIE WI
LEGALIZE ATV/UTV'S ON THE ROADS IN DELL PRAIRIE WI
The Issue
Dear fellow residents of Dell Prairie, WI,
Although it is legal in most of the other townships surrounding us including the city of Wisconsin Dells, and most of us own them, riding ATV/UTV's on the roads in Dell Prairie Township, WI is currently illegal. This not only inhibits Dell Prairie residents from riding legally on the roads, but also residents from other townships where it is legal who would like to be able to travel through Dell Prairie to get to the city of the Dells or other townships. It is my belief that most if not all of the residents of Dell Prairie and the surrounding townships would like it to be legal but thus far the board of directors of Dell Prairie are unwilling to even allow the topic on their agenda for discussion. When I spoke to the chairman personally he told me that in his opinion he was against it because it was a liability issue. What liability? What makes an ATV or UTV any more liable than a snowmobile "which is already legal", a motorcycle or a car? In addition, if ATVs and UTVs are legal on the streets of the city of the Dells with all of it's traffic, people and congestion, why wouldn't it be legal to ride just north of town on back roads with very little traffic through mostly nothing but woods and farm fields? ATV's and UTV's are not loud machines. Not even as loud as a motorcycle or snowmobile so there wouldn't be any issue with noise. They would also be restricted to speed limits. I believe the top speed allowed in other townships is 40 mph. As the board of directors of Dell Prairie is obviously against this, I believe the only way we will be able to make it legal is to prove to them that most if not all of the residents want it to be. If they truly represent the people then they will have no choice but to make it legal. Please sign and share this petition and assist me in my effort to make it legal to ride ATV's and UTV's on the roads in Dell Prairie Township. Thank you! If you are a Dell Prairie property owner please comment Dell Prairie in the comments.
