I am a resident of Louisa, KY and have been personally affected by the recent crackdown on ATV use in our town. For years, certain individuals were targeted for their use of ATVs on back streets. Now, it seems everyone is being pulled over without reason. The inconsistency is clear - while golf carts and motorized bikes are allowed to roam freely, ATVs are singled out.

ATVs provide a practical means of transportation for many residents who need to get from one place to another quickly and efficiently. They are not just recreational vehicles but also tools that aid us in our daily lives.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that there were 15,250 fatal crashes involving all types of motor vehicles nationwide in 2019 (source: NHTSA). Meanwhile, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported only 81 fatal accidents involving ATVs during the same year (source: CPSC). This data suggests that ATVs are not inherently more dangerous than other types of vehicles currently allowed on our streets.

We propose a reasonable solution - establish clear rules for ATV usage within city limits similar to those applied to golf carts and motorized bikes. This would ensure safety without infringing upon our rights as citizens.
