Help protect our National Parks from destruction by Timber NSW

The issue

An opinion piece was released recently from Timber NSW, arguing that National Parks serve little purpose and that to save nature we need to log them. It is common knowledge that National Parks both preserve and protect our native species, and they provide a place for the Australian community to enjoy and revel in our homeland's natural beauty. Not only do National Parks bring Australia together as a community, but they provide a pathway for essential understanding about nature. This will lead to future generations having more success in terms of protecting our planet

National Parks provide a haven for both humans, plants and animals and we must do everything in our power to protect them forever. Much of our country is taken up by spectacular protected land including the Blue Mountains, the Great Barrier Reef, Kakadu and the Kimberleys. All National Parks are explored and treasured by locals and overseas travellers every day. Warrick Jordan, National Forest Campaign Manager for the Wilderness Society, argues that the issue with our National Parks is not whether they work, but which areas need more protection, more funding, and how science can be used to improve management of the parks.

There is endless scientific evidence to support how important our National Parks are and the statements made by Timber NSW should be heard by our nation as devastating consequences will occur if their wish to log our beautiful National Parks is granted. If Australia comes together as a nation and speaks the truth about how precious these parks are, we can ensure Timber NSW cannot harm our country's heart and soul.
