Although sadly, we lost the fight for the name change of our beloved Crosshands pub to the All Inn, the new owners have acknowledged that they should’ve done some research to find out the strength of feeling before they made the change and will be mindful of this in the future. I pointed out that the new name did not necessarily mean the same thing in Bristol as it does in Oxford.
They have put up a picture in the hallway by the stairs of the old pub and the dates 1853-2023, and have promised to have a celebration day this summer for the 170th year of the Cross hands. They also suggested and agreed to a blue plaque on the front of the building with the dates of the Cross hands and to call the upstairs bar the Cross hands bar.
Watch this space we will hold them to it.
In the meantime please support the pub as we need to keep it and not loose another one to developers for flats.
