What is LCOY?
The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is a critical event under YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). LCOY aims to amplify local youth climate action and provide input into international climate conferences like COP. 

What is the National Youth Climate Statement? 
This year, LCOY USA united over 150 young individuals (ages 14-35) from across the nation. These delegates convened at American University for climate panel sessions, negotiation and advocacy training, and policy workshops. The outcome? The 2nd ever National Youth Statement—a powerful document outlining American youth's key policy recommendations for climate action.

What does the Statement include?

• Preamble: Recognizes the diverse backgrounds of participants and emphasizes the importance of including youth in climate dialogue.
• Demands: Calls for a nationwide, equitable phase-out of fossil fuels, inclusion of youth in climate policy consultations, and establishment of various national offices and positions focused on youth and climate issues.
• Areas of Focus: Includes domestic climate justice, mitigation, adaptation, a just transition, and youth inclusion at both national and international levels.
• Benefits: Highlights the advantages of these actions, such as minimizing climate risks, empowering young people, and preparing the economy and infrastructure for climate change.
