Good afternoon Lake Washington supporters! First, we want to thank you all for your unwavering support of our efforts to protect the quality of life in Lake Washington and preserve the rural residential character of our community.

Status Update: The developer of 1800 Turtle Mound Rd withdrew his first application to rezone the 14.37 acres of land from RR-1 to RU-2-6 (~86 multifamily units). His attorney modified the application (26Z00008) from RU-2-6 to RU-1-11 and submitted it under a new application number (26Z00034) to build between 55-83 single family homes on 7,500 square foot lots.

The county planning department is conducting a full review of the new application and the City of Melbourne is also weighing in as it has on the first application (which it had strongly opposed).

Our fight to protect the character of our community is NOT over. We will launch a new petition (and new link early next week). Stay tuned.

Mark Your Calendars to Attend:
September 14 at 3 p.m.: Planning and Zoning Board in Viera where we will appear in person to show our opposition to the proposed zoning change.
October 1 at 5 p.m.: County Commission's Zoning Hearing in Viera where we will also attend and show our community opposition to the proposed zoning change.

For those residents most directly impacted by the proposed changes, please contact dbaumert@baumertpr.com as we can provide you with a paper log to be able to write down examples of the impacts the redevelopment would have on you (traffic, flooding, wildlife observations, etc). They are called "Findings of Fact" that you can submit to the formal government record prior to the P&Z hearing 9/14. Photos of the examples with time/date stamp is also compelling evidence.
