Taking our campaign to our mp

I wanted to share a quick update on where things stand. Today, I took the petition signatures and my survey results directly to our local MP, Lee Dillon, to talk through what is happening on the ground for local families.
It was a good chance to talk about the progress that has been made so far. Thanks to everyone's support, the campaign has successfully pushed the local authority to open up more SEND spaces.

But there is still so much more to do to ensure more specialist provision is available within our borders and within parents' preferred sites. 

Too many of our children are still being sent completely out of our area to access provision, away from their local communities.

I had a very direct, honest conversation about our local assets. Right now, highly funded local services and community providers are working in silos rather than networking and collaborating to build a proper SEND Local Offer. Local organisations simply are not doing their maximum to work alongside one another, which is leaving massive gaps in the support available on our doorstep and that is not happening currently.

Lee has said he will speak directly with the management of the key local provider I highlighted regarding these service gaps, and I will be sending over the full survey results so he has the community's feedback right in front of him.
I am keeping this petition and my survey fully open. My main focus now is pushing for a proper, joined-up SEND summer hub inside West Berkshire for next year, at parents' preferred locations, with local providers actually working together so our children can stay local.
