The Issue

Child online safety should be everyone's priority. As a parent, the digital safety of our children is of paramount concern. Roblox, a popular online gaming platform with over 58 million daily active users, is frequented by a significant number of young children in the UK. However, there have been alarming reports of inappropriate content, interactions with strangers, and inadequate security measures which put our children at risk.

Roblox's immense popularity among children stems from its user-generated content and social interaction capabilities, but these same features make it vulnerable to exploitation. According to the NSPCC, over half of British children aged 7-16 have used the platform. A National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) survey also highlighted that one in four children have encountered hate speech while using the app, and one in five have been subjected to bullying. Incidents of grooming and inappropriate content have also been reported.

Therefore, it's crucial that a parliamentary investigation be conducted into Roblox's safety practices to ensure that our children are provided with a secure online environment. We urge the UK government to take immediate action by enforcing stricter regulations and child protection rules. This may include developing comprehensive guidelines for monitoring content and interactions on the platform and holding Roblox accountable for safety breaches. If these issues cannot be resolved, then a ban on Roblox in the UK should be considered as a necessary step.

We call upon all concerned parents, educators, and citizens to join us in advocating for the safety of our children online. Let's come together to demand change and make digital spaces safer for our kids. Please sign this petition to pressure authorities to take decisive action in safeguarding our children from online dangers.
