Launch a Formal Investigation into SFA & Referee corruption in Scottish football
The Issue
Concerns about possible corruption among the Scottish Football Association and referees are casting a shadow over football in Scotland, causing fans, players, and clubs to lose faith in the fairness and integrity of the game.
The contentious decisions during crucial matches, the lack of transparency in referee appointments and the apparent inconsistencies in penalty and card judgments suggest that something is amiss. These issues not only undermine the spirit of competition, but also jeopardise the reputation of Scottish football on the global stage.
In response to these disturbing trends, we demand the immediate removal of Neil Doncaster as CEO of the Scottish Premier League, Ian Maxwell as the CEO of the SFA, Willie Collum as Head of Referee Operations at the SFA and John Beaton, Andrew Dallas and Steven McLean as referees in Scotland…whilst urging the Scottish Government to initiate an independent, transparent, and thorough investigation into these allegations of corruption.
This investigation should be conducted by a panel of unbiased experts based outside of Scotland to ensure impartiality and should include a review of all available evidence, including match footage, referee communications, and patterns in decision making.
The findings from this investigation must be made public, and appropriate actions must be taken against any individuals found guilty of corruption. Implementing measures such as stricter vetting processes for referees (where their team allegiances are publicly recorded), improved training, and the introduction of a vastly improved VAR system to assist officiating can help restore confidence in the SFA.
We believe that taking these steps is vital to preserving the integrity of Scottish football. By ensuring that games are officiated fairly and without bias, we can bring back the trust and enthusiasm of the fans, maintain Scottish Football’s reputation, and ensure a level playing field for all teams involved.
Your signature on this petition will be a step towards ensuring accountability and fairness in Scottish football. Please sign and help us bring about the change needed for the future of league football in Scotland.
