Imagine with me, a beautiful area with undulating hills, dotted with tree's and trails, cross country obstacles, green mowed arena's, indoor arena's, stables, amenities all set in park like surrounds with the capabilities to hold large scale Equestrian Events of all disciplines. Imagine it is available to all who wish to use it and that it is within a few km's of a major Freeway. How good would that be? Now imagine it in our local area.

This is our vision for the Latrobe Valley. 

The aim of this petition is to garner community support for the development of a World Class Multi-Discipline Equestrian Centre that has quality facilities to service large scale equestrian competitions & training. Including & not limited to - the Olympic disciplines of Dressage, Show Jumping &  Eventing, but also Campdrafting, Western Pleasure, Urban Trails, Carriage Driving, Showing, Jousting, Mounted Games, Mounted Archery, Para Equestrian, Riding for the Disabled and more. 

We need land & facilities that will include indoor arena's, outdoor all weather arena's, cross country courses, Campdrafting arena's, riding trails and training area's as well as stables, yards, administration block, amenities, equipment & equipment storage. Moving forward there is potential to build a restaurant, equine art gallery & a specialist equine veterinary clinic.

There is no such state or council owned and PUBLICLY accessible facility from Werribee Park NEC to the border. The potential income to small business Equestrian Events bring to the area is huge.  

The Latrobe Valley is ideally situated in the heart of Gippsland and is easily accessible to East, South, Central & West Gippsland, the Mornington Peninsula Yarra Valley and Melbourne.

With the Hazelwood mine being rehabilitated & Yallourn Power Station scheduled for closure within the next decade now is the time to let Energy Australia, Engie, the Latrobe City Council & our local Members of Parliament know that there is community support for this endeavour which will benefit not just equestrians (yay! somewhere to ride & hold competitions) but the whole community by bringing in people from outside the area and providing much needed income to the Latrobe Valley. 

We are passionate about this as we see the lack of facilities and lack of funding equestrian receives from the Council and the Government. Equestrian is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly. Due to our many & varied disciplines our tendency to  work alone has hindered us. we believe that If we work together & step forward as a united community our voices will be heard.
