La causa
The Malvinas Islands belong to Argentina by history, geography, and international law. In 1833, the United Kingdom forcibly expelled the authorities and the Argentine population who peacefully inhabited the archipelago, which Argentina had legitimately inherited from Spain following its independence. Since that act of colonial dispossession, the British government implanted its own population, disrupting Argentina's territorial integrity. In the 21st century, colonialism has no place in our world, and the United Nations General Assembly, through the historic Resolution 2065, clearly determined the existence of a sovereignty dispute that must be resolved exclusively through bilateral negotiations between the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom.The international community has established that the principle of self-determination does not apply in this case due to the implanted origin of the population. Instead, the interests and way of life of the current inhabitants must be respected—guarantees that are already formally recognized and protected by the Argentine National Constitution. Despite this, the United Kingdom systematically ignores the calls for dialogue, maintains a disproportionate military base in the South Atlantic, and unilaterally advances with the illegal exploitation of fishing and hydrocarbon resources belonging to the Argentine people. Peace, dialogue, and international law must prevail over force and colonial intransigence.For these reasons, the signatories of this petition formally demand that the government of the United Kingdom cease its unilateral stance, immediately comply with the United Nations mandates, and sit at the negotiating table with the Argentine Republic to achieve a peaceful and definitive solution to the sovereignty dispute over the Malvinas, South Georgia, and South Sandwich Islands, as well as the surrounding maritime areas. Furthermore, we urge the UN to increase diplomatic pressure and call on the international community to reject economic projects that exploit the region's resources without the consent of Buenos Aires. Las Islas Malvinas son argentinas por historia, geografía y derecho internacional. En el año 1833, el Reino Unido expulsó por la fuerza a las autoridades y a la población rioplatense que habitaban pacíficamente el archipiélago, el cual Argentina había heredado legítimamente de España tras su independencia. Desde ese acto de despojo colonial, el gobierno británico implantó su propia población e impidió el desarrollo de la integridad territorial argentina. Hoy, en pleno siglo XXI, el colonialismo ya no tiene lugar en el mundo, y la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, mediante la histórica Resolución 2065, determinó con total claridad que existe una disputa de soberanía que debe resolverse exclusivamente a través de la negociación bilateral entre la República Argentina y el Reino Unido.La comunidad internacional ha establecido que en este caso no aplica el principio de autodeterminación debido al origen implantado de su población, sino que se deben respetar los intereses y el modo de vida de los habitantes actuales, garantías que la propia Constitución Nacional Argentina ya reconoce y protege de manera formal. A pesar de esto, el Reino Unido ignora sistemáticamente los llamados al diálogo, mantiene una base militar desproporcionada en el Atlántico Sur y avanza de forma unilateral en la explotación ilegal de recursos pesqueros e hidrocarburíferos que pertenecen al pueblo argentino. La paz, el diálogo y el derecho internacional deben prevalecer sobre la fuerza y la intransigencia colonial.Por tales motivos, quienes firmamos esta petición exigimos formalmente al gobierno del Reino Unido que cese su postura unilateral, cumpla de inmediato con los mandatos de las Naciones Unidas y se siente a la mesa de negociaciones con la República Argentina para resolver de manera pacífica y definitiva la disputa de soberanía sobre las Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur, Sándwich del Sur y los espacios marítimos circundantes. Asimismo, instamos a la ONU a elevar la presión diplomática y solicitamos a la comunidad internacional que rechace los proyectos económicos que explotan los recursos de la región sin el consentimiento de Buenos Aires.
