The Issue

I was recently terminated from my employer a prominent Commercial Real Estate / Property Management firm along with another employee in which they used the at will law. When asked the reason for this termination, what brought this on, I was told "they were excersizing their right to terminate based on the (at will policy) which is stated in the company employee handbook". It is strongly believed the underlying reason for our termination was retaliation and it was personal. This law is too open and easy for employers to hide behind and have other ulterior motives to get rid of an employee. We both were outstanding employees, very good work ethics, excellent evaluations, always complimented, and then bam, we were hit with a termination that couldn't be explained. We both believe our termination was on a personal basis because of continued complaints against an individual labeled as a work place bully. The person that causes all the problems is still employed and two of the people who complained about this individual get terminated without cause. The (at will employment law) need to be changed to (termination with a cause). No employer should be allowed to freely terminate you without  just cause. Please let us band together to make a differrence and get this law changed. My life changed in a split second at the hands of an individual who used his authority to intimidate to protect his friend from any further complaints and he hid behind the (at will law) to do so.
