31 March 2017 Save Whalley Library Campaign Web: www.whalleycommunitylibrary.co.uk Email: help@whalleycommunitylibrary.co.uk Dear All, Important Whalley Library We are delighted to inform you of the latest news on Whalley Library, The Lancaster Foundation has stepped forward and put in a bid to save the Library. Its generous aim is to give back the buildings usage to the local community. It is envisioned that the space will become a more diverse community meeting space with a modern book lending facility being at its core. I am sure that many of you will be as delighted as we wish the Lancaster Foundation every success in its bid to save the library.  If the Library building can be saved for community use there will need to be a small committee of enthusiastic people wishing to be involved in the ongoing issues around the facility.  There will be maintenance and utilities to pay which the committee would have to work on a schedule to support the upkeep of the building going forward.  The ideas will come from you, the community and the committee would be open to suggestions of ongoing uses of the facility. The volunteers will be passionate about keeping the library open to facilitate it’s use on a day to day basis.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you are: a)      Interested in Being a Committee Member b)      Interested in Volunteering c)      Have ideas for the use of the library (perhaps by groups) To get a plan of action together it is important that we move quickly so please reply asap.  Kind Regards Neil Martin / Gillian Darbyshire Whalley & District Lions Club (President and Past President)
