Keep a library in Waterloo

Kevin Craig started this petition to Lambeth Council

We the undersigned value very much the cultural and societal value of the library currently in Waterloo.  We cherish it and treasure it. If because of the Budget cuts from the Lib Dem Tory Government Lambeth Council is being forced to close the current library and sell it off, we demand that there must be a replacement library in Waterloo before that closure happens.

We are delighted that Lambeth Council is proposing money for a new library in Waterloo.  Removal of any library provision at all in Waterloo would mean that a fundamental public service will disappear in our area.  The current library in Lower Marsh is widely used by all sections of the community and our community will be weakened by its closure unless a new library replaces it.

We want a guarantee that a library will carry on in Waterloo and that if the current library is sold there is no gap between the current library closing and a new one opening.
