We had a fantastic to get together last night of the Upper Norwood Library Campaign. Thanks to the Albert for hosting. The sense of people power and empowerment was tingling. Crystal Palace is a great community and last night only further served to demonstrate that. I have enclosed details of the march which is supplied by Unison giving more details of the march and when it leaves and where it is going. Upper Norwood Library is 115 years old it is serves residents of all 5 boroughs it is the only space where you aren’t viewed as a wallet. We need and want to retain our library as a properly funded professionally staffed town centre library. And I really believe that we can persuade Lambeth and Croydon to give us more money to make that a reality and working with the Trust we can also think of some really creative additional fundraising ideas. The Twitter account for the campaign is @saveunlibrary it is also really useful to use hashtags # to draw attention #Croydon #Lambeth #CrystalPalace #Library in various combinations are all really useful. If you use @saveunlibrary to refer to our library it is much easier to track the tweets for those of you who don’t know there is also a Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/269577509754920/ you can search for it Save Upper Norwood Library. Taking on board not everybody uses computers or social media we will also try to ensure there is lots of info in the library. I also said I would give you some contacts for emails. steve.reed.mp@parliament.uk former leader of Lambeth Council and now MP for Croydon North Helen Hayes (helen.hayes.mp@parliament.uk); Helen is MP for Dulwich & West Norwood the constituency in which the library sits.
