Hello! I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.

I just want to provide another update on the status of the petition as well as talks with the City of Lakewood about the possible addition of a warning device at Bloomfield and Lemming.

The traffic study took place for less than 48 hours: between March 31 and April 2, and the data was sent to Lakewood City Hall a few days after that. I spoke with Safety Director Yordt one again, and he told me that there's still no estimated date of completion for that data analysis, let alone a decision of what, if anything, will be done/installed to improve safety conditions here. He also mentioned that traffic and speed counts are just a portion of the data analyzed and considered when making a decision like this, but did not specify what else is also taken into consideration. I have sent several videos to Director Yordt of examples of unsuspecting people nearly getting hit by oncoming cars while crossing in the crosswalk, just to shed more light on the posing dangers.

I encourage everyone to continue pushing for the addition of warning devices such as flashing lights or other signals, to help significantly diminish the chances of another tragedy happening at this intersection that has already claimed the lives of three innocent victims.

The City of Lakewood has been holding public safety meetings, and the next one is on April 29. The link attached to this update will bring you to the page with information, as well as the link to sign up to attend the meeting. The meeting covers topics ranging from crime rates and statistics, to community efforts to increase public safety. I encourage you to attend if you can! There is a portion of the meeting during which the public can ask questions to the Public Safety Team, as well as the Lakewood Sheriff's Station SAO (Special Assignment Officer) Team.

If you would like to reach out and advocate for change, Safety Director Yordt's email is JYordt@lakewoodcity.org .

Thank you everyone and please stay safe!
