The City and Costco have been less than transparent about the proposed 37-acre, 170,000 sq. ft. Costco warehouse and 30 pump gas station at the corner of Hwy. 9 & 20th Street SE in Lake Stevens.
To date, the City has only held one community meeting for the entire project and did not even take public comment at it. And now, only one opportunity for public comment will be allowed when the City takes up the development agreement between the City and Costco for the project which we suspect will contain lots of corporate welfare for Costco; taxpayer paid tax breaks and incentives and free city owned land. We will keep you posted on when that meeting will occur.
In the meantime, stay up to date on this project by checking back here for updates but also please consider following our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LivableLakeStevens/ for the most up to date information and news about this development and how you can get involved and fight for a better plan and project more in keeping with the character of our community.
