Property owners in Lake of Bays have been receiving letters from the Township stating that roads and access points which have been used for 60+ years are now in need of a license (Which comes with several additional hidden costs amounting to over $10,000). We feel it is outrageous that our individual families are being asked to assume these costs, as well as insurance costs for publicly owned roads. In addition to this, businesses in our community are being denied permits to operate their businesses to best serve our community. 

We as Cottagers in this area feel that these demands are oversteps of our property and human rights. To demand property owners come up with thousands of dollars or access to their cottages will be potentially blocked, is not a precedent we can allow to be set in Lake of Bays.  

The threats and fear mongering tactics used by the township has been authoritarian and unfair to the patrons of Lake of Bays, the same patrons that voted to entrust council to protect our rights. 

If you have not been impacted by this yet, it may only be a matter of time, and we need to send a message to council that we will not accept this treatment of our patrons. By signing this petition you support the following:

1) I support property owners in having peaceful enjoyment of their properties, free of the township imposing thousands of dollars of unforeseen costs on property owners.

2) I support the property owners in saying no to bullying by the town and authoritarian policies being imposed on property owners.
