On September 24th the Lake County Commission approved the county budget which includes $18,000 for administrative support for the museum.

Tavares pastor Mike Watkins and other residents spoke against funding the Historical Society.   The Society membership has increased enough due to this statue that they should be able to self-fund or support their own fund raising activities rather than using taxpayer support.
