Just look at what an animal rescue has to go through to save a dog or cat. They have to spend hour after hour attempting to save a dog in this situation when CA law clearly dictates that they should be releasing this dog to an animal rescue immediately. Please call your LA County Supervisor and demand they help SAVE KYLO. Do we have any celebrities out there who can make a few calls? If so, please email robinmorgan@investmentprops.net and let her know you want to help SAVE KYLO.

Dear LA County and Castaic shelter,
I am reading the public records I received today for Kylo for the alleged past history you said you had that you used in determining he has been made no placement and scheduled to be euthanized. I am asking again that you reconsider this position. If you have not read these notes yourself, please do, as there seems to be only one isolated incident of the dog or dogs getting out per the public records, but AC came out a second time to follow up since the owner did not answer the door the day they originally came out. They issued 2 citations, which seemed to include the dog on the loose. It saddens me anyone would try to bring his past history and distort it into suggesting this or any dog was therefore worthy of being euthanized. No injuries took place or were noted. If you have not seen this dog, I would also like to show you a video of this dog as a stranger is standing in front of him and his kennel. https://www.facebook.com/783968124/videos/pcb.10163695871273125/7246802902059121
In the past history in the public record, which happened in late December, the dogs got out of their apartment unit. We all understand that a situation with a dog getting out in an apartment complex can be a concern for tenants or scary, and is usually related to a problem with the owner not the dogs. However, based on the limited information that was given by the person who called to complain, there is no information that suggests the person actually witnessed anything with respect to the dog or dogs. But even if they did, there are no notes that this dog or any dogs caused any harm or injury to anyone, and obviously if there was injury, the dog would have been quarantined at the time. It sounds more like the kids were just scared seeing a dog run, or run at them, or the parent got alarmed. Who even knows if the dogs really chased, or even nipped or what that really means. They are dogs, they see kids, they run, or kids run, dogs chase, could be in a playful way, even the nipping if that even really happened. We are talking about a puppy, as this happened last year when Kylo was even younger. Let’s not make this situation into something they were not to justify any killing of a dog, or your denial to two different 501c3 rescue’s making a request to rescue this dog under the Hayden act. Ironically, I own and manage apartment complexes, and can tell you that tenants oftentimes make claims in general or against other tenants that are exaggerated or not even correct or factual.
Kylo is no doubt scared in a shelter environment so I am not surprised if he has at times barred teeth which is a normal reaction for a scared dog to give a warning signal he feels uncomfortable. Numerous times you made notes, he ran to the back. The barring of teeth in this situation, along with this exaggerated past history, does not warrant euthanizing a young dog that was just a puppy, nor does it justify your refusal of a rescue to him. You seemed to have been able to vaccinate him when he came in. You also moved him from his previous kennel, presumably with a catch pole that will also make dogs bare teeth oftentimes as that scares and can hurt them.
I am adding County supervisors and others in animal control or rescue on here because I feel the decision needs to be reversed based on this new information (past history) that you mentioned as a basis for your decision, yet withheld and made me make a public records request to get it. The allegations were minor and unsubstantiated and could easily be said about any dog who gets out in an apartment complex. Kylo did not injure anyone, he has not bitten anyone. He should be made Rescue only and allowed to go to a rescue.
I am respectfully asking that you reverse your decision and agree to release Kylo to a 501c3 rescue as has been requested. Many of your own dogs might also bare teeth if they were thrown into a kennel suddenly and locked up, and having barking dogs and strangers around them. The chow breed is well known to do poorly in shelters because they are oftentimes scared of strangers. Since when does barring teeth justify killing a dog when they are scared?
Thank you, Robin
