(that said: the team knows who they are. Everyone working around the clock daily to save shelter animals on a volunteer basis is a fucking hero. And the animals that have been saved are alive because of the team. You know who you are. You know what you’ve contributed and you are a LIVING ROCK STAR.)

As predicted- SEAACA killed another adoptable young dog today.
Her name was Hallie. She was only 3 years old. She was dog friendly and she had a foster and a rescue willing to pull. Let me be very clear: it was not Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue Inc.- it was another rescue.
The picture I’m going to post was not taken by me. It was her intake picture at SEAACA. I have a fairly good working relationship with SEAACA. I feel those I deal with at this shelter are receptive and responsive. This kill is not justifiable.

Neither was Chloe’s. “Irremediably suffering” is when a dog is dying slowly from distemper. It’s when a senior is riddled with cancer and tumors and nothing can be done.

Being sick and run down because a privately funded shelter waits too long to treat an URI - is not suffering.

IT SUCKS- yes. It’s gross negligence yes. But our rescue has stepped in and brought out several “suffering dogs” and after giving them proper vet care - they are well and thriving.

I was not in the loop today for Hallie. I was conducting an adoption for CINDER another dog who was deemed ”too sick” and was on a 24 hour watch. He was also going to be euthanized for a runny nose and URI our vet was never able to identify in him.

I said this a few days ago- and I’m saying it again.
More dogs will die in the days to come.

Here’s what we can do:
**FOSTER and foster now. Comment here that you can foster and DO IT. Do not wait until 4:56pm to say you can help because they will already be dead. Step up now and take any dog that needs you- stop waiting for a 3 month old MALTESE. The dogs most in need are pitbulls. The stupid stigma that they are vicious died with the 90’s. You’re dating yourself if you still have that idea. Also don’t call after you have the dog in your possession to say “It barks.” YOU TALK, yes??!??! Dogs bark. Kitties meow. Remember that book you read in Kindergarten? And a cow says MOO!! Put on your big girl panties and grow a pair- suck it up and stick it out.

Email the shelter. Call the shelter. And ask ask ask why they are euthanizing.

FEELINGS are NOT FACTS. Don’t look for credit. Your effort is not the best and most noble effort in the game. Your pics aren’t what saved the dog. Your rescue isn’t why the animal is alive. It’s a team effort and everyone is an equally important moving part. These animals will not live or make it out if everyone has an ego made of glass. Everyone being “butt hurt” because they are not being validated or thinking their “job” in this working wheel is the most important - is putting these animals in hefty bags.

The one and only goal is to not let the voiceless get killed in a cold and heartless nightmare filled with fear and zero empathy. Getting snuffed out of this world by someone who doesn’t have a high school diploma and half way knows how to stab a needle into something is NOT WHAT THEY DESERVE. There is no sedation. There are no words of gratitude for the animal no holding of his or her paw.

Here in the US we kill domesticated dogs and cats because there is no space ?!??? And because they are sneezing.

Not really I’m at my dining room table not making dinner for my children because I’m writing this.

There has to be a lot of work done but the shelter system hasn’t improved or changed in - well - FOREVER.

Spay Neuter!! I applied to be an adoption partner with a SHELTER- this week- that states in black and white- “most animals will be released unaltered.”

And the City shelters SELL breeding licenses for a little over $300.

The loss of these supreme majestic enchanting animals is def us losing the battle.

But what about the war?
