Council Selling Off Community Land in GORDON with view to redevelop into multi dwelling high-rises under R3 zone proposed.

It is with great sadness to hear Kuringai council is seeking to re-zone the Gordon Bowling grounds at 4 Pennant Ave Gordon from public recreation use to R2 with view to rezone to R3 so they can maximise profit (it will be easier for council to Rezone from R2 to R3 once the current proposal is approved).

We have 2 little ones who enjoys running around in the open space, especially during the lockdown. We see so many other people doing the same when we are there. Once this land is sold, it’s gone forever as open space.

Our area is already struggling to meet current and future demands for playing fields as well as sports and recreational areas. I would urge Council to preserve the site as green space or community land for perhaps development into a park, creche (with nearby coffee shop, perhaps) and/or community garden. All are options should be explored with the community, in my opinion.
