February 28th 2022 is the last chance six Knox Councillors can show they care about our community, or to continue following their personal interests. They all know 24-hours was not advertised before they voted to make it law. They all know Knox Council did not follow its community engagement policy and did not consult the community on 24-hours. They know they have no evidence or statistics for their claims.
Watch the vote if you can, know who they are, while we plan what next we can do. Live at 7pm, though it is item 6.5 http://webcast.knox.vic.gov.au/video.php (They place question-time after the vote.) Afterwards meeting can be viewed in Archived Media pressing 6.5

Claiming Pandemic permit, when other Councils have re-opened to the public. Council has kept meetings closed during the entirety of the making of this law, denying public access and silencing those affected. Council has not listened to us.
This should have been an election issue. Instead Knox Councillors have surreptitiously and dishonestly passed a law that harms thousands and divides the community. They feel safe that they have years to go, while we rate-payers and residents pay their salaries. Do we need Councillors? We would save much money and have less corruption without them.
This is a long haul. Cats are family. Cruelty to animals, and people, is a fight for life and future.
Together we are stronger, divided we fall. Yarra Ranges two years later started issuing monstrous fines reckoning each infringement could not be fought by struggling residents.
As a local politician’s office tells me, ‘This was planned,’ to sidestep community opposition and community welfare, to avoid informing, to avoid consulting, instead releasing misinformation. Using the Pandemic, to hide from residents their plans to harm its cat-owners, cat-lovers and neighbourhoods. Knox Council kills wildlife, hearts, hurts families and takes homes, for revenue-raising.
We are working on the Ombudsman response. If being paid from the public purse means the government integrity agency does not consider accurately or impartially, then it will be a long fight. We will need candidates at the next election who, when given a position of honour, act with honour and honesty - not empty words.
Animal welfare - feline and human health, is worth much more than greed and misinformation. Let’s hope for the best, expect the worst, but never give up.
Cat Lives Matter!
