Cancel the Cull on Coyotes!: Biodiversity in Kitchener

Cancel the Cull on Coyotes!: Biodiversity in Kitchener

The Issue

UPDATE: read this petition's updates for Important Information on coyotes!- Biodiversity in Kitchener is as important as it is anywhere on our globe. If we want to make a stand to protect wildlife and to heal global warming, we have to start Now and start local.

I am aiming to confront Kitchener's municipal decision makers and show them that We Care about our city, not just the popular downtown areas and the small natural reserves, we care about All of it. We care about the wildlife that lives in our city. The coyotes that are only a danger because we have forced them out of their habitats. If we can encourage the City to create more wildlife reserves instead of another factory, we will take another step towards climate mitigation and encourage biodiversity, Together.
We can influence the city to take Small Steps towards our Lasting Impact too, such as planting more diverse, wild flora on city property, that will help to mitigate the climate crisis, which will also create habitats for more diverse fauna.

By signing this petition you show that you believe the city of Kitchener can do more to protect wildlife and avert the climate crisis.

Show the city and future generations what you value.

Kitchener can be a leader of positive change when we find the courage to stand up for lasting, local, environmental change. Whether or not you are a resident of Kitchener, know that you have the power to make a difference.

Responded
Thanks for connecting my office with your concern. I do want to advise that the City of Kitchener has no plans to conduct a cull of coyotes in our community. While we understand some other communities may be considering this, this is not something we are doing or planning. Locally, we haven’t had too many concerns about coyotes nor any recent negative occurrences or issues, so it appears we are doing well in terms of balancing and encouraging coexistence. We continue to have info available on our website (see link below) and encourage anyone with questions or concerns to reach out to our staff directly to discuss.
