Bernard McGuin & Colins Ibor -Castle Hill Update

Afraid the planning application by the Thandi Partnership has been passed by Kirklees Council at Castle Hill. This was after a tied vote and the Chair having the casting vote. Thank you to 3.839 local residents who have signed this petition. Please continue to sign and share this petition. 

The new application was needed as the previous planning application was due to expire as it required building work to already have commenced but this could not happen as it does have approval by Historic England.

The Thandi Partnership require Scheduled Monument Consent which Historic England manages on behalf of the government.

Historic England shifted from opposing the, plans to supporting them in August 2025, provided that the Thandi Partnership’s business plan is independently verified and that they secure all necessary statutory approvals. 

There is also an all out election at Kirklees Council so a real chance to change how Kirklees Council is run.

Until Historic England approves the business plan the fight will continue to protect Castle Hill.
