Residents Join hands to Protect Local Area - Clitheroe Croft in Kingsmead

The Issue

Residents of Clitheroe Croft in Kingsmead  object to the application for a 6 bed HMO at 7 Clitheroe Croft, Kingsmead 21/00457/FUL on the following grounds.

·       The proposal involves demolition of a brick boundary wall to the garden of No7 and also trees and shrubs in order to make a car park. This will have a harmful effect on the street scene and therefore fails to satisfy planning policy requirements.

·       One of the car parking spaces in the plan is under the minimum size specified in MK’s parking standards.  It is also questionable whether the size allocated to other spaces meets the standard.

·       Visitor parking is not catered but there will be visitors with cars.  Where will they park? There is no room to park in the road on Clitheroe Croft,  Tenby Grove or Brownsett Drive without causing obstruction.

·       Due to car parking taking a large part of the present garden, the garden area left is too small and detrimental to the amenity value of the property and the overall street scene.

·       The safety of residents, and families who use Clitheroe Croft to access the redway and the school will be put at risk due to reduced vision as they navigate parked cars and through traffic.

·       Through access for emergency vehicles is compromised.

The application does not satisfy planning policy requirements and should be refused.
