King Edwards VII Steals Bursary Money From Students

King Edwards VII Steals Bursary Money From Students
The Issue
I, along with many other students at King Edward VII School in Sheffield, UK, have been denied our entitled bursary funds.
I started this petition to raise awareness about an issue that many students of 2023 faced at King Edward VII. The headteacher prohibited laptop purchases beyond March 2023 without a clear deadline "stated in the application form and included in the bursary policy", going against DfE guidelines that state, "Any specific deadline date should be clearly stated."
By going against the minute details of the DfE guidelines, something students would most likely never read. It seems that this was done to take advantage of stricter rules implemented by the government on bursary changes in 2023. The deadline wasn't explicitly stated so more students didn't request to purchase laptops before March. This way, they could declare a larger sum of unspent bursary to the government and carry more to the next academic year to "continue to use any funds carried forward to support students."
This situation is troubling because it not only deprives students of essential educational resources but also raises questions about the integrity of the school's financial management and educational institution as a whole. The KES policy of loaning a laptop can not be used to justify the prohibition of laptop purchases in March 2023 without addressing this to students. It is not only abrupt but also lacks transparency and fairness, especially considering the significant impact it has on our education and future prospects.
Our hope is for Ofsted to investigate this matter thoroughly and advocate for the rights of students who have been affected. It is essential to take measures to ensure that such practices are halted, and students are provided with the support and resources they need to succeed academically.
Please sign this petition if you stand with us in demanding justice and fair treatment from King Edward VII School.
