Petition updateKijiji Canada: Stop puppy mills and prohibit the sale of household pets @KijijiBreeder Accountability in This Ontario Election

In this election, candidates in Ontario should address the critical oversight of pet breeding: while 60% of Canadian households own at least one cat or dog, breeder licensing remains woefully inadequate. Despite rigorous regulations on pet-related services, such as pet food, animal welfare, the import and export of pets, veterinary services, and pet insurance, the primary source of Ontario family companions—breeders—operates with minimal accountability. Prioritizing comprehensive breeder licensing will protect companion animals, ensure ethical practices, and safeguard Ontarian interests.

In an email sent today to Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles, Ontario Liberal Party Leader Bonnie Crombie, Ontario Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner, and Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford, I asked:

"What specific steps would you support to establish comprehensive licensing requirements for dog and cat breeders in Ontario?"
