While pet food, animal welfare, the import and export of pets, veterinary services, and pet insurance are all subject to regulation, the primary source of Manitoba family companions—breeders—remains largely unregulated.

Until all Canadian provinces implement breeder regulations, classified sites like Kijiji will continue to facilitate animal sales from licensed and non-licensed breeders through their platforms. For this reason, I am including Honorable Ron Kostyshyn, Manitoba Minister of Agriculture, as a key decision maker in my petition, given his authority to address this issue.
