Keystone Oaks: Stop Sexualizing Students Bodies

The Issue

This week, a student was dress coded for wearing a corset. She wore a cardigan and jeans with it, the only thing showing was her cleavage, not anything too serious, it wasn’t a revealing outfit by any means. Other students wear very similar outfits but haven’t gotten dress coded (only reason why she did was because she has larger breasts and her friend even wore the same corset, not getting dc-ed.) This individual was told multiple adults in the building were concerned and that her outfit was “distracting.”  So is it students or administration that are the problem, getting distracted? (by skin, something we see everyday.)

Today (Sep. 24th,) students of Keystone Oaks protested against the dress code. Many people were dc-ed for “bra strap, shoulders, and chokers” but there were two students in particular who were wearing more revealing clothing who didn’t get dc-ed ONCE. why? because of their body shapes, so why are kids without (large breasts, body curves, larger stomachs, etc.) not getting the same treatment? It is not fair to the bigger he, shes, and they’s.

Keystone Oaks: Please Change the “Dress Code,” and more importantly focus on giving students education instead of sexualizing their bodies.
