In recent years, Warped Tour has been expanding their consumer demographic through the inclusion of less alternative/punk bands. This seemed to culminate this past year (Warped Tour 2015) with the inclusion of the famous Neon Icon RiFF RaFF. However, I propose that this not be the peak of Warped Tour's inclusion of pop musicians; it should in fact be the inclusion of Kesha (formerly Ke$ha) for the 2016 Warped Tour main stage.

Not only is Kesha a perfect continuation of that demographic expansion from previous years, Kesha would have always been a perfect fit for Warped Tour. Her songs have been proven multiple times to be enjoyed by a wide variety of people. As well, she has consistently listed many classic punk bands as influences, including Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr., and David Bowie. She has also always promoted acceptance and being who you are without worrying about what other people think, two ideals that are not only intrinsic to punk music as a whole, but also ideals that the primary teenage demographic of Warped Tour deserves to hear. This would also be perfect exposure for her upcoming music, as she is in the midst of making a new album and a summer-long tour on an already well-established tour circuit would not only help spread awareness of upcoming music, but would also give her music exposure to many kids who would have never thought to check her out beforehand.
