Stop changes to Assiniboine Forest
Stop changes to Assiniboine Forest

The Charleswood Rotary Club recently announced it is fundraising to boost Assiniboine Forest visitation and sustainability. Their plan includes adding washrooms, more paved paths, an additional parking lot, and an interpretive centre.
The Rotary Club has done commendable work in Winnipeg, but they should focus on maintaining what is there now and not starting any new development. Part of the charm of the forest is that it is relatively pristine. It is a rare gem in the heart of Winnipeg with only minor development. It is home to wild animals, birds, and trees and plants. Introducing additional amenities will take away from the charm of the forest. If people want paved paths and washrooms, Assiniboine Park is only five minutes away by car or bike.
The wildlife in Assiniboine Forest have been stressed enough with the removal of their habitat to make way for the Seasons shopping-mall development, Ikea, etc. It’s a forest, not a park. Lets keep it that way.
Please support stopping any further development in the forest by supporting this petition.
