Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) is a joint collaboration of the following organization :
-        Women's Aid Organisation (WAO)
-        All Women's Action Society (AWAM)
-        Women's Centre for Change (WCC)
has supported campaigns for a separate sexual harassment law in Malaysia.

1)     First proposed Sexual Harassment Legislation on 2001.
2)     An updated version has been sent on 2019.

Until to this date ( 2021) the proposed bill on Sexual Harassment Legislation has never been bought to parliament.

Based on the progress of a Sexual Harassment Bill, the JAG has also published a statement that highlighted 3 demands:
1)     Specific timeline for the Sexual Harassment Bill to be tabled
2)     Sexual Harassment Bill that consists of a clear definition of sexual harassment based on international best practice, minimum standards and oversight mechanisms of organisational obligations, civil standards and procedures to handle sexual harassment cases
3)     Proposed changes to the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) that would render court process more sensitive to survivors of sexual offences.

We must realise the importance of this bill has the cases of sexual harassment keep on increasing by year at the same moment the number of victims complains has dropped due to social stigmatisation. We need a better law for a better future.

A comprehensive SEXUAL HARRASMENT ACT must be produced in order to STOP this cases from getting increased and left unknown. The justice for the victim must be given by an government of any state and all life must be protect at all cost.
Majority of women and girls experience this kind of traumatizing events in their life yet the perpetrator are left uncaught or even bought to justice at all.

MALAYSIA NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE SEVERITY OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT AGAINST WOMEN & GIRLS IN THIS NATION & ACT FAST.

As stated on FEDERAL CONSTITUTION – ARTICLE 5

Article 5(1) - No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty save in accordance with law.

Article 8(1) - All persons are equal before the law and entitled to the equal protection of the law.

Don't deny our personal liberty and give us the equal protection of the law. Let's stand together & create a better future for our women & girls in Malaysia.
