Kelly and Stratton Unite Against Raja in Illinois primary

The Issue

This request is not about diminishing the accomplishments or leadership of Kelly or Stratton. Both have served Illinois with dedication and have strong support across the state.

Rather, it is about recognizing the reality of a crowded race in which a divided field could produce an outcome that does not reflect the broader preferences of Democratic voters. We do not

We respectfully encourage thoughtful consideration of whether joining forces, through endorsement or cooperation, could strengthen the voice of Illinois voters in this election.

Krishnamoorthi has raised very large campaign war chests of money compared with the other candidates. His massive spending has dominated the primary since before voters could fully evaluate candidates. It has created the perception that he has the majority support and his money outweighs grassroots support, but more importantly The Will of The Voters.

We greatly respect the service of both candidates and the leadership they have shown.

With early voting already underway and many ballots already cast, a growing number of voters are concerned that vote-splitting between three candidates could allow a Raja to win with only a small plurality of the vote.

The importance of this primary cannot be understated. The candidates Kelly and Stratton both have significant support bases, but without unity, their split vote could inadvertently lead to a candidate winning without truly representing the majority of voters' interests in Illinois.

History shows that split votes can lead to unexpected outcomes. In elections across the nation, similar scenarios have occurred, where vote splitting allowed candidates to secure positions with less than 50% of the total vote.

Our Senate seat must be held by someone who truly represents the needs and values of Illinois residents, not one who sneaks through due to vote fragmentation. Illinois is a state with diverse communities and perspectives, and our elected officials should mirror this diversity by maximizing the democratic process through strategic voting.

To prevent this outcome and ensure that the candidate who best represents our collective values and priorities prevails, we urge both Kelly and Stratton to explore collaborative approaches. This could include considering alliances or consolidating campaigns where possible. Cooperation between these two strong candidates could not only prevent vote splitting but also energize their combined bases, resulting in a Senate representative who has the true support of Illinois voters.

Sign this petition to urge the Democratic candidates in the Illinois Senate Primary to unite and prevent vote splitting. Let's ensure our voices are represented and heard.

Together we can prove that when voters unite around shared values, integrity can win over money and political games.

Thank you.
