It's incredible to see this petition growing and strengthening in numbers every single day! Over 106000 signatures is an amazing effort and I thank you you all!
When many like-minded voices come together... that is when the change begins. That is when those who have the ability to make the changes will sit up and listen.
Many amazing movements along the way have paved the way for the basic human rights we have today. Rights that we just take for granted are ours freely. These rights were fought for and it was the combined effort of many who came together and fought for the cause.
Women's safety is an issue we need to fight for. Women have the RIGHT to not only feel safe but be safe. What I feel when I see this petition still strengthening in numbers is HOPE.
When Parliament resumes in February, Stuart Grimley of the Derryn Hinch Justice Party will be putting forward the proposal for this new offence the Grab and Drag with our newly appointed Attorney General Jaclyn Symes.
When I delivered this petition to Parliament back in November, the signature count was at just over 96000. As I said above, we are now 106000 + voices strong! 106000 + people who want the change. 106000 + people, mostly Victorians, demanding better of our Justice system, demanding tougher laws to make it easier to prosecute those who commit these vile attacks on Women!
No woman should ever feel she didn't get the Justice she deserves because of our flawed system! No woman should ever see her attacker walk out of court a free man!
I need your help......
Let's get this petition to 150000 signatures so that when Mr Grimley meets with our Attorney-General, she sees the strong opinion of a society that does not stand for this behaviour anymore! A society wanting better for Women. A society wanting our women to be able to go about their business in a safer world!
Please continue to share this petition
Alongside this petition, my campaign against sexual violence continues in a group that I founded called Sexual Violence is never OK. It is a group where I will continue to raise awareness of sexual assault cases as they develop and what we can do when we need to do it.
Thank you for your ongoing support of this cause.
