Breaking story today....a 34 yr old chef who sexually assaulted a 16yr old in their place of work has walked a free man today despite pleading GUILTY to the act. I'll just write that again in case you missed it... he pleaded guilty and is a free man!
According to the victim’s mother, her daughter’s whole sense of security is destroyed and is struggling to sleep. She cries and hits her head against the walls. He has created this awful chapter in her life now, a chapter that will forever haunt her AND he walks with a community correction order (CCO) and is now a registered sex offender.
Big deal!!!!!!! Sorry. Not good enough. This man BELONGS IN JAIL.
On the drive home after the attack, he told her he shouldn't have done that because of his wife and children. NO! You shouldn't have done that because you had sex with someone without their consent and a child for that matter.
I told you I was going to work on the bigger picture so here it is....
No more! Enough is Enough. Not only do we need to ask the OPP to appeal this sentence immediately... we need to push those who can make the systemic changes so that these predators are held accountable and punished accordingly.
We cannot tolerate nor accept that we live in a society where a 16yr old can be sexually assaulted, the perpetrator pleads guilty and yet walks a free man!!!!!
We need better!!! Women deserve so much better than this.
This precedent is set far too low. There are no consequences for their actions and unless the changes are made we are going to continue to see these headlines, women will continue to be attacked and we will have to continue living in a world where we are vulnerable and at risk.
This petition is now about the bigger picture. It started because of the injustice that was served to the woman who was assaulted by Jackson Williams... now it’s here for every victim. For every case where the justice system fails to keep us safe. My fight is now for not only this victim but I'm now fighting the broken system. I'm demanding change!
