Keep the TRFO Maternity Clinic Open

Keep the TRFO Maternity Clinic Open
The Issue
Help me share and sign this petition to keep the Thompson Region Family Obstetrics Clinic (TRFO) open. Kamloops families rely heavily on this clinic for prenatal and postnatal care. Let’s bring attention to this issue and keep it at the top of Interior Health, our MP & MLA’s to do lists!
The TRFO is responsible for on average 60 hospital deliveries a month, and the prenatal appointments for birthing parents as well as 6 weeks of postnatal care for mothers & babies. This is important as many families don’t have GP’s and are on never ending waitlists! Most family doctors don’t do deliveries anymore and refer to other clinics & services. Kamloops has limited midwives and OBGYNs and they’re often full before you find out you’re pregnant. This clinic also supports neighbouring townships and cities - this isn’t just for Kamloops!
This clinic is slated to close July 2023 due to staffing issues. This leaves (using the reported average) 300 babies & mothers without (or struggling to find, or travelling to other cities) prenatal care for the remainder of 2023 and 720 starting in 2024. Action must be taken to keep this vital clinic open!
