Keep the PS3 and PS Vita Stores Open for Global Fans
The Issue
We, PlayStation fans across the world, are deeply concerned by Sony's July 1, 2026 announcement to close the PlayStation Store on PS3 (and PS Vita) in July 2027 for most countries.
The PS3 and PS Vita have massive libraries of classic and unique games, many of which are still not available on either the PS4 or PS5.
Closing the stores not only ends new purchases, but it limits access for collectors, retro gamers, and players in regions with limited internet access. Even with previously purchased content remaining downloadable for now, we still demand guarantees for the permanent use of the games we buy on the stores
Sony reversed a similar PS3/Vita store closure back in 2021 after listening to fans.
We ask them to do the right thing once again to continue PS3/PS Vita store support as well as improve preservation (e.g., better backward compatibility, official archives, or re-releases.
As consumers, these two grave decisions affects not just our purchased libraries and future access but they set a dangerous precedent for the future of gaming. A future that leaves gamers at the mercy of companies who can delete their games on a whim without any choice or say in the very products they have purchased with their hard earned money.
