The City of Irvine has been trying to move Central Bark for 8 years! 8 years ago it began flooding because the filtration system is old and permanently clogged. We have a bench in the big dog side that has a rusted through leg. We have an APPROVED project to move the dog park that is funded, designed, has had many public comment meetings, the unanimous support of the Irvine City Council by way of votes, BUT they have put it on the back burner!
Four Ways to help are:
1. ATTEND (super impactful) the Irvine City Council meeting on:
March 25, 2025
5:00 PM (I will be there before, please come whenever you can)
@City Council Chamber
1 Civic Center Plaza
Irvine, CA 92606
Park in the huge free parking lot in the back. Walk through the courtyard and into the sliding glass doors and proceed to the left where the Council Chambers are. Please, bring a leash to help show our support for our dogs and dog parks. I will be there and we can sit together as a group if you like. If you want to make a public comment, sign up at the kiosk down front, it is easy. I will be making a public comment (usually 60-120 seconds). Bring your family and friends if you can. We NEED to make sure they don't miss us or our support for the already approved OAK CREEK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT that builds us our new dog park. A good showing here insures that the Council gets the message.
2. Call or email as often as you can the people on our contact list about your support for the OAK CREEK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. The contact list can be found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_KbIhu7OH0Y-c4FSNHZZjWd2L8t59B6vnV-rqBV1rB8/edit?usp=sharing
3. Make a public comment on the City of Irvine's council meeting agenda by posting your comment of support for the existing OAK CREEK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT at this link: https://irvine.granicusideas.com/meetings/2568-city-council-regular-meeting/agenda_items/67da1fc47d796596b7001ac6-public-comments-non-agendized-items-estimated-s
4. Join the Irvine Dog Parks Association newsletter at: IrvineDogParks.com
It will help keep you informed as to developments that concern our dog parks.
