Keep the Music Tech Class in Arlington's School Curriculum

The Issue

Music Tech has truly transformed my perspective on what I want to do in my life. It has opened up a world of creativity and potential career paths that were once just a thing to do for fun. This class isn't just an elective; it is a crucial stepping stone for students like me who aspire to carve a future in the music and tech industries.

Many of us at Arlington High School have found a new passion and direction thanks to Music Tech. However, Dr. Janger wants to stop it; the future of this class is uncertain. This cannot happen, as it will strip away the opportunity for many students to explore and develop essential skills in a rapidly growing field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in music and sound skill-related careers is projected to grow 8% from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. Eliminating this class deprives students of a competitive edge in an economy that demands technological literacy and innovative creativity.

Not only does the Music Tech class teach technical skills like software use and audio editing, but it also fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and communication—skills that are vital in any career. Removing this class from our school's curriculum would mean a loss of a comprehensive education for students who rely on these experiences to guide their future educational and professional paths.

Please support us in keeping Music Tech part of Arlington High School's offerings. By signing this petition, you are standing up for the preservation of an essential and inspiring component of our education system. Let's ensure that future generations of Arlington students have access to the same life-changing opportunities that this class has provided to its current students. We need your help to make our voices heard. Please sign and share this petition today!
