Since the new Sumner County Courthouse has opened the Gallatin Library parking lot has been used for courthouse visitors and not available to library patrons wanting to visit the library. 

There have been signs placed at the entrance of the lot, but not many are respecting them.

Disabled spots are being filled and families with multiple small children are having to park far away on the square and walk to the library. This is making it very difficult if not impossible for some to visit the library. 

I’ve created this petition so that our county leaders will see how this is affecting our community and the families in our community.

The library lot should be reserved for those that wish to visit the library.  The courthouse has built a new parking garage and courthouse visitors should be using that when it opens, not the library lot. Of course the library lot will continue to be the preference since it’s closer. 

We’re asking that our leaders hear the frustration and inconvenience this has caused for those of us who want to visit the library and step in to do something about it. 

There used to be additional library parking where the courthouse was built, but that was taken away, already limiting the availability of parking for the library. Now the courthouse is taking away the remaining parking available  

During library hours, the library should be reserved for patrons of the library. Please join us in telling our leaders what our community needs.
