Meadowlane Park is central to the Forest Heights community in Kitchener, Ontario and is famous for its Big Hill. The City of Kitchener plans to remove the Big Hill and put a storm drain in place. This will mean that our community will no longer have access to a key recreation feature that provides accessible recreation for community members and families during all seasons. The Big Hill is one of the very few recreation features in Forest Heights that is free, walkable distance bringing families together from winter tobogganing to exercise in the milder months. The Big Hill gets us outside, connecting with our families and neighbours which is vital to our physical and mental well-being.

The proposed storm drain would create a new hazard in the park - a large body of water. Despite a great number of community members expressing concern about the removal of the Big Hill, the City of Kitchener has decided to go ahead with their plans as stated on Engage Kitchener's website:
